Seven

As an unforeseen caretaker to these wonders of classical antiquity
I choose to afford my available time
To maintain both glorious Zeus and Helios
Uniting them both inside my temple to Artemis

Forever at Olympia, Zeus - with thunderbolt, bull and oak
This King of the Gods rules the sky
Seated in opulent majesty
He has power to gather or disperse my dark and light clouds, at his will

While resting astride Rhodes
The shining Colossus of Helios; crowned with an aureole of light
Drives a laughing chariot of the sun across the heavens each day
Led in a shower of luminosity by his trusted solar wolf

As one, when together, their Alexandrian Lighthouses will rise
From the magnificent bases on Pharos
Mythical in proportions, sculpted in breathtaking living marble
Anima and animus collide when we touch

Three tangles of luxuriant hair
Meld together in the our sacred Garden of Babylon
Where abundant Pyramids of yew, hazel and beech
Create the natural chamber in which we dwell

To keep this Kingdom of Halicarnassus we have created safe,
From mischief or early tomb, I ask my glorious gods:
Remain; let us protect our venerable seven wonders
For sirs, I am undone - and long for more of this happy maintenance
