Autumn Equinox

Lines of geese cut regimented silhouettes
through the sky
While bright Cosmos lets fall papery petals
to the earth
The wheel steadies again for daylight and darkness
synch-ro-nise
Their whispering shadows coax us to move closer
to the hearth

Night time dreams yield incantations of watery
indigo
And the Harvest moon waxes, tempting me to walk
to wild places
But summer will not fade away, at this first
touch of chill
For bright fires shall blaze and keep love safe
in our hearts

At First Touch of Winter, Summer Fades Away
